Lake Gregory

Located in the scenic city of Nuwara Eliya, Lake Gregory is a man-made lake constructed in 1873 during the British colonial era under the administration of Governor Sir William Gregory. Today, it is one of the most visited leisure destinations in Sri Lanka's central highlands. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and rolling tea-covered hills, the lake offers a variety of outdoor activities including swan boat rides, speed boating, jet skiing, pony rides, cycling, and lakeside picnics. The cool climate and breathtaking scenery make it an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature. Lake Gregory is especially lively during weekends and the Nuwara Eliya Season in April, when visitors gather to experience cultural events and outdoor entertainment. Nearby cafés, restaurants, and souvenir shops further enhance the visitor experience, making Lake Gregory a must-visit attraction for families, couples, and nature enthusiasts.
