Kumana

Kumana National Park is located in the Ampara District of Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province and is one of the country’s most important bird sanctuaries. It is part of the larger Yala ecosystem and is especially famous for migratory and resident bird species. The park features lagoons, mangroves, forests and open plains, making it ideal for wildlife safaris. Kumana is best known for its bird colonies, especially during the breeding season, where thousands of birds nest in the Kumana Villu wetlands. Visitors may also see elephants, crocodiles, deer and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
