Knuckles Mountain Range

The Knuckles Mountain Range is located in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, stretching across Matale and Kandy districts. Named after its resemblance to a clenched fist, it is one of the most important biodiversity hotspots in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region features cloud forests, grasslands, deep valleys, rivers and numerous endemic plant and animal species. It is a top destination for trekking, camping, nature photography and eco-tourism. The area also includes traditional villages where visitors can experience rural hill-country life. Knuckles is considered one of the most scenic and untouched natural regions in Sri Lanka.
