Horton Plains

Horton Plains National Park is one of Sri Lanka's most spectacular natural attractions, located approximately 2,100–2,300 metres above sea level in the Central Highlands. Recognized as part of the UNESCO Central Highlands World Heritage Site, the park is famous for its unique ecosystem of cloud forests and montane grasslands, which support many endemic plants and wildlife. The park's most iconic attraction is World's End, a dramatic escarpment with a sheer drop of nearly 870 metres offering breathtaking panoramic views on clear mornings. Visitors also enjoy the beautiful Baker's Falls, scenic walking trails, and opportunities to spot wildlife such as sambar deer, purple-faced langurs, endemic birds, and other native species. The circular hiking trail, approximately 9 kilometres long, is one of Sri Lanka's most popular nature walks. Early morning visits are highly recommended to avoid mist and experience the park's stunning landscapes at their best.
