Begin your Adam’s Peak adventure with an afternoon pick-up from Colombo or Negombo and a scenic drive through Sri Lanka’s tea-growing highlands to Dalhousie, the traditional starting point for the climb. After time to rest and prepare, set off around 01:00–02:00 for the night ascent, following illuminated pilgrimage steps shared by visitors of different faiths. Climb towards the 2,243-meter summit, taking breaks along the way as needed. Arriving before dawn, watch the sunrise illuminate the surrounding mountains and look for the distinctive triangular shadow cast by the peak. Known locally as Sri Pada, Adam’s Peak holds deep spiritual significance and offers a remarkable combination of pilgrimage tradition and mountain scenery. After sunrise, descend to the base village and stop for breakfast before beginning the return journey to Colombo or Negombo. This challenging excursion offers a meaningful way to experience Sri Lanka’s sacred highlands.
