Seeduwa - Katunayake

Located just north of Colombo, Seeduwa – Katunayake is one of Sri Lanka’s most important gateway regions due to its direct connection with Bandaranaike International Airport. The area is a busy mix of residential neighborhoods, industrial zones, and transport infrastructure, making it a vital economic center. Katunayake is home to the Katunayake Free Trade Zone, one of the country's largest industrial estates, while Seeduwa features residential communities, local markets, and access roads linking Negombo, Colombo, and other key cities. Despite its industrial importance, the surrounding areas include paddy fields, lagoons, and coastal stretches that reflect the natural beauty of the Western Province. Visitors often pass through this region when arriving or departing Sri Lanka, but it can also serve as a convenient base for exploring nearby attractions such as Negombo Lagoon, Negombo Beach, and Colombo city. The best time to visit is from November to April when the weather is generally dry and pleasant for travel.
