Koggala

Koggala is located in the Galle District of Sri Lanka’s Southern Province, close to the popular coastal towns of Unawatuna and Weligama. It is best known for Koggala Lake, one of the largest coastal lagoons in Sri Lanka, surrounded by islands, mangroves and rich biodiversity. The area is also famous for traditional stilt fishing, a unique fishing method practiced along the southern coast. Koggala offers a combination of beaches, lagoons, wildlife, culture and history. The Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum, nearby temples and scenic coastal landscapes make it an attractive destination for travelers exploring southern Sri Lanka.
