Kitulgala

Kitulgala is located in the wet zone rainforest region of Sri Lanka, between Colombo and Nuwara Eliya. It is surrounded by dense tropical forest, hills and the Kelani River, which creates ideal conditions for adventure tourism. The area is most famous for white-water rafting on the Kelani River, attracting both local and international adventure seekers. Kitulgala is also a biodiversity hotspot with rich rainforest ecosystems and birdlife. Additionally, it gained global recognition as the filming location of the classic movie The Bridge on the River Kwai. It is one of Sri Lanka’s top destinations for eco-tourism, trekking and water-based adventure activities.
