Kirinda
Kirinda is located in the Hambantota District of Sri Lanka’s Southern Province. It is a small fishing village known for its dramatic rocky coastline, strong ocean waves and the historic Kirinda Temple, which stands on a rock overlooking the sea. According to legend, Queen Viharamahadevi landed here after being set adrift at sea. Kirinda is also an important gateway to Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife sanctuary, known for leopards, elephants and diverse wildlife. The destination combines religious heritage, coastal beauty and safari tourism, making it a unique stop in the southern region.
