Kegalle is located between Colombo and Kandy in the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by green hills, rubber plantations, spice gardens and tropical forests, making it a beautiful gateway to Sri Lanka’s central region. The area is famous for the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, one of Sri Lanka’s most visited wildlife attractions, where visitors can observe rescued elephants. Kegalle also offers access to natural attractions, traditional villages, temples and scenic countryside landscapes. Its location makes it a popular stop for travelers moving between the western lowlands and Kandy.
