Namal Uyana, located near Galkiriyagama close to Dambulla, is a nationally protected sanctuary renowned for its extraordinary blend of nature, history, and spirituality. Covering approximately 1,005 hectares, it contains the largest Na (Ironwood) forest in Sri Lanka and one of the largest pink Rose Quartz formations in Asia. The quartz deposits are estimated to be more than 550 million years old, making them a geological treasure of international significance. Visitors can enjoy a scenic walk through the dense Na forest before reaching the spectacular Rose Quartz Mountain. The area is also home to ancient monastery ruins, stupas, meditation sites, stone inscriptions, and archaeological remains dating back to the Anuradhapura Kingdom. The sanctuary supports a variety of wildlife, medicinal plants, birds, reptiles, and butterflies, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourism, hiking, photography, and cultural exploration. The peaceful atmosphere, unique pink rock formations, and rich biodiversity make Namal Uyana one of the most distinctive attractions within Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle
